About BPH or Enlarged Prostrate
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a non-cancerous growth of the prostate which causes it to enlarge and can lead to urinary problems.
Without treatment an enlarged prostate can put pressure on and block the urethra to cause symptoms such as:
- Frequent need to urinate during the day and at night
- Weak or slow stream when passing urine
- Or when passing urine the stream stops and starts
- A sense that you cannot completely empty your bladder
- Difficulty or delay in starting to pass urine
- Urgent feeling of needing to pass urine
For some, the symptoms will be mild and not require BPH treatment, however for others the symptoms may have a significant impact on their quality of life.
