Windle Island Road Closure and Diversions

From 09:30 am on Monday 26 March to 7:00 pm on Tuesday 27 March 2018, the A570 (Rainford Bypass) will be closed northbound only from Windle Island to Crank Road.

However, diversions will be in place and a series of traffic management measures will be installed on the A580 and A570.

Traffic from St Helens

All traffic heading to Fairfield Independent Hospital from St Helens will not be able to continue onto the Rainford Bypass at Windle Island and turn right on to Crank Road as normal. The cars will be diverted to turn left on to the East Lancashire Road towards Liverpool, continue past the Game Bird pub and then to turn right at the Blindfoot Road Roundabout, along Blindfoot Road to the Rainford Bypass and then turn right/ Southbound on the Rainford Bypass, then to turn left on to Crank Road.

Traffic from Haydock

All traffic heading to Fairfield Independent Hospital on the East Lancashire Road heading towards Liverpool will not be able to right at Windle Island on to the Rainford Bypass and access Crank Road. The diversion is to continue up the East Lancashire Road, past the Game Bird pub and then to turn right at the Blindfoot Road Roundabout, along Blindfoot Road to the Rainford Bypass and then to turn right/ Southbound on the Rainford Bypass, then turn left on to Crank Road.

 

Traffic from Liverpool

Traffic travelling on the East Lancashire road from Liverpool will be diverted left at the Blindfoot Road Roundabout, along Blindfoot Road to the Rainford Bypass and then to turn right/ Southbound on the Rainford Bypass, then turn left on to Crank Road.

Throughout this work, you will also be able to turn left and right from Crank Road.

 

Traffic from Rainford/Bickerstaffe

Route is expected to be available as normal; however, expect delays and congestion due to additional traffic.
