Dr Gladston Chelliah is on the Specialist Register as a Consultant Rheumatologist who qualified in 1985. His training included two years experience at the University of Birmingham/Queen Elizabeth Hospital which is a specialised centre for vasculitis and connective tissue disorder. He has been a Consultant in Rheumatology at Wrightington Hospital, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust since 2005, providing a high quality, evidence-based patient-focused service.
Dr Chelliah provides a comprehensive rheumatology service. His areas of interest are inflammatory joint disease such as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis, crystal arthropathy such as gout, Ankylosing Spondylitis (runs a special dedicated service), vasculitis, connective tissue disease, muscle disorders, osteoporosis and joint injections.
He enjoys teaching and does regular teaching sessions for the junior doctors, General Practice, multi-disciplinary team, patients and medical students. He is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire. He does regular audits to improve patients’ quality of care. He is involved in various research projects including multi-centre research projects.
