What Makes Us Different

Fairfield Independent Hospital is one of the very few remaining charitable hospitals in the country, something we are extremely proud of.

Our not-for-profit status is a guarantee that any surplus we generate is reinvested back into the hospital.

Recent investments

Wi-Fi upgrade – We have upgraded the patient WiFi network in the hospital. Ps. Don’t forget to follow us on social media.
Digital Mammogram – We have invested in a brand new digital mammogram to complement our comprehensive breast services.
Fractional CO2 Laser & Laser suite – This offers patients access to the latest treatment for pre-cancerous lesions and skin conditions including basal cell carcinomas and actinic keratoses.
State-of-the-art endoscopic washer unit – which exceeds current legislative requirements and allows the hospital to maintain our impressive infection control. It also ensures the safety of our patients which is at the heart of everything we do.

Our facilities

  • 32 en-suite rooms
  • 10 Consulting rooms
  • 2 modern surgical theatres
  • Minor treatment room
  • Radiology department
  • CT and MRI scanners
  • Physiotherapy department and gymnasium
  • Therapeutic roof top garden

We have eight outpatient consulting rooms where consultants can meet patients, discuss their symptoms and propose a course of treatment.  They may also undertake minor procedures in the consultation rooms.

We have a ground floor treatment and diagnosis room where you can be assessed before a visit to theatre or you may receive a minor treatment from a consultant or one of our nurses as part of our nurse led services.

On the ground floor we have two imaging rooms where we can undertake x-ray imaging, ultrasounds and mammography. During the week these facilities are supplemented by visiting CT and MRI scanners.  All patient images are stored and provided to consultants for diagnosis on our digital imaging system which can share images across the Hospital.  With patient consent we can also access images taken at other hospitals as this reduces the number of times patients are scanned.

We also have a physiotherapy treatment room and fully equipped gymnasium.

On the first floor of the Hospital, we have two operating theatres.  Theatre One is the largest and is fully equipped for all orthopaedic surgery.  In January 2012, we re-opened this theatre with a brand new, state of the art, ultra clean ventilation system which reduces the chances of wound infection during hip, knee and other major orthopaedic surgery.  We also took the opportunity during the Christmas closure to upgrade all of the other safety and hygiene features of Theatre One.

Theatre Two is used for a range of surgery and also benefits from a range of recent investment, including new theatre lights, cleaning systems and new operating theatre tables.

We also have a minor procedures treatment facility on the first floor. This is essentially used for laser vein surgery and diagnostic procedures.

The treatment and theatre services are completed by a theatre recovery area.  We have  a sterile  services area where equipment used in surgery is cleaned and maintained on site.

We have 32 bedrooms, all en suite and all with fantastic views of the gardens.  Many have access to the roof garden or veranda where patients or their guests can get some fresh air.  Two of the bedrooms have extra beds where family members can stay to provide support and comfort for our younger patients.

Patients also have access to our gardens, including our roof garden, as part of the therapeutic environment we provide at Fairfield.
