Miss Rieka Taghizadeh

Miss Rieka Taghizadeh is registered on the UK General Medical Council (GMC) and  Specialist register in Plastic surgery.  She graduated from Dundee University Medical School and completed her specialist training in plastic surgery at the Northern Deanery (Newcastle). She has undertaken a Microsurgical Fellowship at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital London, an Oncoplastic Fellowship, followed by travelling Fellowships to world-renowned units including Barcelona, Helsinki, Dusseldorf and Singapore. She completed an Aesthetic Fellowship at the Wellington Hospital in London, prior to commencing her Consultant post in 2015.

She is full member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (BAPRAS) and British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS). She is the BAPRAS chair for the national breast special interest group as well as a council member for BAAPS. She is also a member of the International society of Aesthetic plastic surgeons (ISAPS) for which she is the assistant national secretary for the United Kingdom. Miss Taghizadeh is a member of the international residents training committee and is heavily involved in the teaching program. She is also part of the International leadership group for ISAPS.

Miss Taghizadeh has over 35 publications in peer review journals and is a regular reviewer and author for the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery journal for which she is also on the editorial board. She is a regular invited International guest speaker at key reconstructive and aesthetic conferences. She is a faculty member at the World society of reconstructive microsurgery and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons meeting. In her role as BAPRAS chair for breast, she has organised the annual scientific meetings in the breast section.

Miss Taghizadeh’s clinical practice includes both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. She is the clinical lead for microsurgical breast reconstruction and performs complex surgery including DIEP (deep inferior epigastric perforator ) flap reconstruction. She also manages all adolescent and adult breast corrective procedures such as asymmetry and tuberous breast deformity in which she has gained significant expertise and experience.

In her aesthetic practice, Miss Taghizadeh offers all aspects of breast surgery such as breast augmentation , breast reduction, removal and replacement of implants, uplift (mastopexy ), correction of asymmetry, and male breast surgery. She has lectured internationally on the combined use of breast surgery and fat grafting (lipomodelling). She has extensive experience of lipomodelling which is used for improving the quality of breast tissue as well as correction of contour, symmetry and volume.

She has significant experience in body contouring including  all aspects of abdominoplasty surgery as well as post massive weight loss procedures such as brachiaplasty and thigh lift. Miss Taghizadeh has performed a large volume of primary and revision abdominoplasty surgery. Other areas of expertise include labiaplasty surgery for which she has set up a specialist  practice and blepharoplasty (upper eyelid) surgery.

Her practice has a strong focus on safety and natural results. As well as technical attention to detail and striving for an ideal outcome, she places great emphasis on making the patients feel comfortable and at ease throughout the process as well as ensuring all her patients have a full understanding of all stages of the treatment journey.

She has been involved in raising awareness of Breast Reconstruction and taken part in organising charity events as well as television and radio programs on the subject. She was also awarded employee of the month in October 2022 as well as nomination for employee of the year for services to breast reconstruction within her NHS trust. She also received a medal for her presentation at the world meeting of the International society of aesthetic plastic surgeons held in Athens in 2023.

Hobbies include painting, skiing and travelling. She has held private exhibition of her art work and donated pieces to international plastic surgery charity auctions.
