Mr Michael Scott is a highly experienced Consultant Surgeon who has been serving the Merseyside region for over 30 years. He has worked at Fairfield Independent Hospital throughout his consultant career, alongside appointments at Whiston and St Helens Hospitals. Known for his expertise, warmth, and engaging personality, Mr Scott is one of the most respected General Surgeons in the country.
Mr Scott trained in Liverpool and California, gaining a broad and international perspective on surgical techniques and patient care. His clinical interests focus on abdominal wall surgery, and he is considered one of Europe’s leading hernia specialists. He regularly lectures to fellow surgeons across the UK and internationally, sharing his knowledge and experience in the management of complex hernia cases.
At Whiston Hospital, Mr Scott leads the Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Unit, the largest of its kind in the UK. This pioneering service treats patients with complex abdominal wall defects, including recurrent hernias, post-operative complications, and congenital abnormalities.
