Professor Ravish Katira

Consultant Cardiologist

Professor Ravish Katira is a Senior NHS Consultant Cardiologist at Whiston Hospital, St Helens & Knowsley Teaching NHS Trust and is the clinical lead for heart failure services. He is honorary Senior Lecturer at University of Leeds.

He obtained his MBBS (honors) degree from Meerut University in India. Thereafter he completed his postgraduate education with successful completion of MD (Medicine) to practice as a physician and thereafter DM (Cardiology) to practice as a Consultant Cardiologist.

Professor Katira came to United Kingdom in 1996 and gained further extensive experience in angiography, pacemaker, angioplasties and complex bi-ventricular pacemakers. He has worked as a Consultant Cardiologist since 2005 and has a wide experience of general cardiological conditions such as angina, heart failure, palpitations and syncope (fainting).

He has a special interest in heart failure, hypertension and atrial fibrillation. He has vast experience with cardiac risk assessment prior to non-cardiac surgery.

Professor Katira has championed primary prevention advice and regularly runs ‘heart wise’ clinics. He has published extensively in Cardiology and is a co-author of a book on Cardiology. He has more than 65 other original publications in peer reviewed journals and has also written 2 chapters in another book on Cardiology.

Professor Katira is an active member of British Society of Echocardiography, British Society of Heart Failure, British Cardiovascular Society and British Medical Association.
